Coolworks BV considers durability and quality to be of great importance. Our Euratainer Cadaver coolers are therefore constructed entirely of high quality materials. It is with good reason that all our Euratainers come with a 24-month guarantee.
Commissioned by and in collaboration with Cebeson (rendering plant in Son, now Rendac) and the Vereniging van Varkenshouders (Association of Pig Farmers) NCB, Coolworks BV began the development of their very first cadaver cooling system in 1991, called the Euratainer ®. Cebeson was searching for a solution for increasing the quality of its animal waste and an improvement of hygiene, with the added side effect of boosting the image of the livestock industry. Together with NCB (Association of Pig Farmers) and Rendac, a test was carried out by 65 farmers in 1992. This test was successfully concluded mid-way through 1992 and the Euratainer became a reality. The Euratainer was sold in the Netherlands from 1993 via Cebeco, Cehave and Boerenbond LLTB. With now more than 15,000 Euratainers sold in the Netherlands and abroad, Coolworks BV has become a market leader when it comes to cadaver cooling and storage. Most of our cadaver cooling systems have been sold in the Netherlands, but we are also paving the way in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Spain and France; the way towards hygienic, environmentally friendly and user friendly waste management.
Coolworks BV has remained busy ever since its early days. The Euratainer has been further developed and optimised, with the highest priorities being sustainability, energy consumption, quality, user and environmental friendliness. It is with good reason that the Euratainer has twice been voted as ‘best’ in independent tests (Proefboerderij Sterksel, Praktijkonderzoek Veehouderij). The Euratainer primarily scored highly in terms of temperature, energy consumption, ergonomics, stability and reliability.
As Coolworks BV has the technical refrigeration knowledge in-house, the Euratainer has been developed over the years to the – for now – highest possible technical standards. As such, we were the first to cool using Propane (revolutionary at the time). Cooling with propane was the first step in an environmentally friendly policy (for which Greenpeace sent us a letter of support at the time, as propane is of course CFC free), but it did not stop there. Nowadays, all components of our cooling unit are recyclable. We are currently the only producer offering a cadaver cooling unit with a specially crafted stainless steel evaporator with TIG welded seams, which significantly increase the life-span of the Euratainer. So it is a sustainable choice.
Why choose a Euratainer?
The Cadaver Cells, or Terratainers as we also call them, are currently the largest cadaver refrigerators in our product range. We have developed these Cadaver Cells to meet a demand from the market. Many livestock farms are getting bigger, which has resulted in a greater need for large cadaver storage solutions. Cadaver Cells offer the perfect solution for this capacity issue.
Cadaver Cells are a good alternative for underground storage. Storing above ground means that the same result can be achieved with a smaller investment. There is no need for excavation or other activities (placing wells, paving, digging, etc.) as the Cadaver Cell is placed directly in the desired location. Another advantage of this system is that the cadaver refrigeration (and the cadaver trays) can be placed directly in the vicinity of the shed; employees stay in the clean area of the company and only have to move the cadaver trays when Rendac comes to load them. Cadaver Cells and the trays that go with them are also easy to clean. The trays (950 litre) are approved by Rendac and are delivered as certified. Note: a yard subscription with Rendac is required in order to use the Cadaver Cells!
Advantages of Cadaver Cells:
The demand for this kind of Euratainer cadaver cooling arose from livestock farmers wanting to minimise the contact between the dirty (rendering firm loading point) and clean routes (within the production area). More and more companies are choosing this option. This is primarily a question of hygiene; no contact between clean and dirty routes helps prevent any ingress of disease and reduces the risk of infection. There is also a practical-hygienic aspect. The farmer can now transfer the cadavers directly from the clean area to the cooling unit and therefore does not have to pass through the hygiene lock (shower and change of clothes) because he does not leave the clean area. Furthermore, the barrels/containers in the dirty area can be cleaned before they are taken back to the clean area of the site.
All our Euratainer models (with the exception of the 1-ton) are available in this ‘clean-dirty route’ version. Upon request, the standard Coolworks cadaver cells can also be produced in this way and as made-to-measure.
Why choose a Euratainer?
This Through-The-Wall model has two loading doors measuring 78 x 78 cm each, which are created inside the shed. As such, the cadavers can be moved directly from the shed to the refrigeration unit. This is primarily a hygiene issue; no contact between clean and dirty routes helps prevent any ingress of disease and reduces the risk of infection. Furthermore, there is also a practical-hygiene aspect. The livestock farmer can now move his cadavers directly from the clean area to the cooling system and therefore does not have to go though the hygiene area (shower and change of clothing) every time because he does not have to leave the clean area. Furthermore, the barrels/containers can be cleaned in the dirty area before they are taken back to the clean area.
Why choose a Euratainer?
Our cooling units can also be ordered separately. We have two kinds available. All our Euratainer cadaver refrigerators are equipped with these separate cooling units and are easy to replace. This is useful in case of a malfunction or replacement. In the Netherlands we have our own service department that can be onsite quickly in the case of an unexpected malfunction or failure of the cooling. This service centre is not available abroad, but in that case we will exchange the cooling unit so that we can carry out repairs in the Netherlands. There are also customers that have made their own insulated space, for which our cooling unit can offer the solution.
Our cooling unit is delivered as standard with our RVS evaporator with TIG seal welds. Our RVS evaporators are manufactured by a company in Italy that is specialised in such TIG seal welds. This welding method uses no ‘other raw materials’ such as tin or silver, which significantly reduces the chance of leakage due to the aggressive gasses created by the cadavers. In short, the seal welds of our evaporators are also made of RVS. The lifespan of the evaporators is therefore also significantly longer.
Why choose a Euratainer?
We have developed our Cadaver Bins especially for use in our largest above ground Cadaver refrigerators, the Euratainer 6 LM, Euratainer 6HM, Cadaver Cell 3 XL and the Cadaver Cell 6. We have developed these Bins to meet demands from the market. Many livestock farms are getting bigger, which has created an increasing demand for larger cadaver storage. Use of the Cadaver Bins offers the perfect solution for this capacity issue.
The Cadaver Bins are intended for above ground storage and thereby offer an alternative to underground storage. Above ground refrigeration achieves the same results, but then with less investment. There is no need for excavation or other activities (placing wells, paving, digging, etc.), the Euratainer Cadaver Cell or cadaver refrigerator is placed directly in the desired location. Another advantage of this system is that the cadaver refrigeration (and the Cadaver Bins) can be placed directly in the vicinity of the shed, employees stay in the clean area of the company and only have to move the Cadaver Bins when Rendac comes to load them. The Bins are also easy to clean. The Bins are approved by Rendac and are delivered certified.
